Mike Beasley caps off huge weekend!

Fresh off his big win Friday night at Dublin Motor Speedway, Mike Beasley rolled up his 5th straight win tonight as he took top honors in the Open Wheel Modified feature at Hammerdown Speedway. After winning the biggest OWM race of the year Friday, where he pocketed $2,250.00, Beasley was the clear favorite heading into tonight's action. Jeffrey Tyndall started on the pole with Beasley along side as they took the green. Tyndall started to slip ever so slighty off the corners but it was just enough for the Hallmark Reality entry to grab the bottom and never look back. Tyndall came acroos the stripe second with Mrytle Beach native Benji Thompson coming to the checkers in the third spot.
The Super Late model feature saw the two drivers on the front row coming into tonight's race seperated by only 4 points. Derrick Francis sat on the pole for the 30 lap event with Shawn Beasley nestled along side. As the green flew, Francis held the bottom strong but Beasley battled hard off turn two and by the time they reached turn three, the Raeford Rocket was in command to stay. The scene played out much like it did two weeks ago, as Beasley at times stretched out to another zip code." The car just seemed to get better the longer we ran" commented Beasley in victory lane. " Don't know if it's these Hoosier Tires or not, but it feels good to back to the way we started the year" Beasley also picked up an additional $200.00 for having the Hoosier Tires on the Beasley's Body Shop/ Cain Builders/ TRO Rocket ride.
In the Super Street race, " The Old Man From Old Doc" Hugh Ray took top honors. Ray started on the pole and held off Cameron Norris the third for the victory. In probably one of the most exciting moves this year at HDS, Ray split two lap cars off turn two as Norris was breathing hard down the decklid of the Butch Hill Motorsports ride. With the win, Ray sets himself up for possible big pay day next week at DMS with the running of the "Pop Smith Memorial" race for the Super Streets. " Man all i have to do is get in this thing and have fun" the Old Doc, N.C. native said. "Butch Hill and all the guys give me a great car every week and all i have to do is turn left!" Ray is up for a $300.00 bonus next week if he can win the Pop Smith Memorial race.
The Young Guns feature winner tonight was Dylon Hammond, as he rolled to his 13th win of 2008. The U- Car feature winner was A.J. Huffman of Fayetteville as he held off Abe Woodard. Larry Mcguire came home third with Walt Bond crossing in the 4th spot. The 270 and 600 sprint car winner was Michael Weeks, as he continues his domination of the winged warrior classes. In the 270 sprint race, Joe Riffle took a ride on the wild side as he flipped several times down the back stretch but was able to walk away unscathed.
Great night of racing tonight at the Mighty Bull Ring, big tip of the hat to the track crew on another great surface for the drivers as is always the case at HDS! No racing next Saturday at the Ring, we will return August 9th for another exciting trip around the High Banks of Hammerdown Speedway! Have a great week everyone!
